Karen and Dan live in Downtown Washington, D.C., and were married a short distance from the home they’ve made there, at the Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon Square. They love their adopted hometown, and so of course we incorporated lots of their favorite locations during their DC engagement session, as well as on their wedding day. We began at Mandu on K Street, their favorite restaurant/bar not far from their home…
We really enjoyed strolling the streets of DC with these two for their engagement session, and couldn’t wait for their late June wedding day…
Kelli Fink did a beautiful job on Karen’s hair and makeup!
From the balcony outside Karen’s room, we got a great view of the Carnegie Library.
We love Karen’s custom-made shoes from Milk & Honey.
Karen was so excited as she waited out on the balcony for Dan to arrive for their “first look.”
The colors and textures in all of the stunning florals by H.Bloom made us happy!
After a few portraits in the Renaissance Hotel‘s gorgeous lobby, it was time to hit the streets of DC!
This is one of our favorite shots from the day… we love shooting in D.C.!
Then, back to the Carnegie Library for the ceremony, and this little cutie!
There are so many beautiful details throughout this venue, including gorgeous marble floors, and grand staircases!
Any wedding ceremony that references “The Princess Bride” is a winner in our books! MAWWAGE!
These pulled pork sliders from Spilled Milk Catering were a nod to Dan’s North Carolina roots.
One of the brilliant things about having Stefanie Harrington along as our second shooter … she captured the photo on the left, while David captured the one on the right!
We loved all of the great book-themed details throughout the reception, including the table arrangements, as well as truly awesome card catalogs that helped guests find their tables, and a super creative guest book, also filled with library cards!
Sara Franklin of Social Scene and her team were fantastic to work with… and they did a great job getting the Carnegie looking fabulous!
Incredibly delicious cupcakes came from Red Velvet Cupcakery.
And tasty pecan pies were made by the Pie Sisters!
Receptions are always made better when our Silly Station photo booth is in attendance!
Congratulations, Karen and Dan! We had the best time spending the day with you and capturing the start of your married life!
