Courtney and Christian first crossed paths in a small newsroom in Downtown Frederick. Both fledgling journalists, they worked just a few desks apart … and kinda didn’t like each other. At first. But soon they realized how much they had in common, and how much they made each other laugh. And then, it was difficult to keep them apart. They spent many weekends together exploring hiking trails and quoting awesome movies back and forth, dressing up like Han and Leia for Halloween. In late September, they brought their love of pop culture and the great outdoors together during their fun-filled wedding at Strong Mansion in Dickerson, Maryland.
Chris and his groomsmen were looking pretty fly in their purple ties.
Meanwhile, upstairs at the mansion, the ladies were getting help from some pretty adorable nephews.
Courtney’s dress was custom-made by Bridal Bliss Designs.
In her shoe, Courtney carried a lucky penny that once belonged to Christian’s great-grandmother.
The stunning Courtney.
Chris walked out to the “Dr. Who” theme.
The wedding party made an impressive entrance, with Lady Gaga’s “Fashion of His Love,” as their soundtrack.
The mansion’s grounds made for a gorgeous setting.
The vows they wrote themselves were peppered with some touching and hilarious quotes from many favorite movies and TV shows.
And the new husband and wife walked out with the “Back to the Future” theme leading the way.
We just love these custom glasses, a nod to Courtney’s Baltimore roots.
Courtney’s nephew and Chris’s niece were actually born on the exact same day!
Guests found their seats by locating famous pop culture couples.
Court and Chris were certainly the best of the list of famous couples.
The Cardis. Because, of course.
After portrait time, the newlyweds were ready to make a pretty “hot” entrance to the reception…
BOOM! Best. Entrance. Ever. (With thanks to Nelly’s “Hot in Herre”)
Guests got their fill of a barbecue dinner, from Beefalo Bob’s.
Chris’s mom took little Avery for a walk after dinner.
And Courtney’s other nephew was pretty excited by the Silly Station prop box.
Big sisters give the best toasts…
Chris’s brother is bigger, but not older. Still, great toast.
As the sun set, and bellies got full, guests found their way to the dance floor, and didn’t leave it all night, thanks to an awesome job by our friend, Alex, of The Dapper DJ.
Also entertaining, as always, was our Silly Station photo booth.
Outstanding choice of cake toppers (Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen of “Game of Thrones“).
There’s that Dapper DJ!
Tons of great dancing moments happened throughout the night, but perhaps the best was when Alex played “Country Roads” by John Denver, a nod to Chris’s West Virginia roots, to end the night. The entire group formed a circle and sang their hearts out.
And then, naturally, it was high-fives for all from the bride and groom.
And a big finish, with a kiss.
Oh, and one more thing… did we mention that Molly actually worked in that small Downtown Frederick newsroom with Court and Chris? Actually, she hired both of them and worked with them daily. We can pretty much give her credit for bringing them together. (Ha!)
We couldn’t resist some “Star Wars” light-painting to end the night, with thanks to our awesome Pixel Stick. Congratulations, Court and Chris, and may the force be with you!
