Chris and Rebecca first met and became friends during a Bible study focusing on God and justice in Washington, D.C., at the District Church. Over the next few years, their friendship deepened, particularly during a trip with the church to northern Uganda. They spent lots of time with each other and with their many mutual friends and eventually started dating. It was on one of their favorite “day dates” — a stroll through Eastern Market for crêpes and coffee, then reading at the gorgeous Main Reading Room at the Library of Congress — that Chris popped the question… quietly. Since it’s a silent reading room, Rebecca had to whisper her “yes,” then run outside to make some calls. Friends and family awaited them for an engagement party later that day. We captured some engagement photos with them at some of their favorite D.C. spots this past spring.
They made it official in early October at the hidden gem called St. Francis Hall, located adjacent to a Franciscan monastery in the charming Brookland neighborhood of northeast Washington, D.C., not far from Catholic University. But first, we met them at separate apartments in D.C., as they got dressed with friends then Uber‘ed over to the hall…

Love this sign and the hashtag for the day, celebrating the couple’s newly shared last name!

The boys spent the morning playing video games, eating snacks and fending off a beggar.

They cleaned up pretty well, right?

Meanwhile, over at the ladies’ getting ready location…

Rebecca was stunning in her Allure Bridals gown purchased at I Do I Do Wedding Gowns.

Tiptoeing through the raindrops to get to the wedding!

Once the guys and girls had arrived at St. Francis Hall, it was time for a first look between Chris and Rebecca on the back porch. Chris’s reaction to seeing his bride was priceless.

Florals came from Weaver’s Fresh Cut Flowers.

The chilly, rainy weather hardly mattered with this fun crew, and the loads of umbrellas Rebecca made sure were available.

Each guest had a copy of the lyrics for “Amazing Grace” on their seats, in preparation for a special moment during the ceremony.

Barbecue dinner from Old Blue BBQ and homemade pies and cobblers for dessert? Yes, please!

Proud parents

The stunning St. Francis Hall!

Before Chris and Rebecca were declared husband and wife, guests bestowed a blessing.

Following the ceremony, we took a short walk across the street to the Franciscan Monastery.

We loved all the simple, rustic, and thoughtful decor, especially the wooden cutlery.

This wedding party knows how to make an entrance!

Following some amazing toasts, including this tribute, sung to the tune of the theme song to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” it was time to party!

The couple’s friend, Jordan Wilson, served as DJ for the evening.

The couple set up a selfie photo booth, and the bridesmaids were totally game.

Too soon, it was time for the sparkler sendoff!

Congratulations, Rebecca and Chris! Here’s to many years of happiness!!
