We first met up with Athena and Ray in the charming Town of New Market, for a lovely autumn engagement session last fall.
On a warm and sunny day in early June, Athena and Ray were married at the lovely Historic Whitehall Manor in Bluemont, Virginia. Surrounded by family and friends, and so many lovely little details, it was a gorgeous wedding that we were thrilled to be part of! Many thanks to Stephanie Aspinwall of Pretty Entertaining, who helped make the day spectacular.
Athena’s mom, Deborah, got very emotional when she saw her daughter all dressed.
We had a bit of a crowd awaiting Athena and Ray’s “first look” before the ceremony.
A first look offered us lots of time to take great, relaxed portraits with Athena and Ray before the ceremony began. The grounds at Whitehall Manor were so stunning… almost limitless opportunities for photo-taking!
Ray’s grandparents frequented auctions and as a result, there were many awesome older books, scales, mason jars and other decorations spread throughout the ceremony and reception spaces.
Guests were treated to cookies from Ed’s Country Bakery in Frederick as their favors!
The cake topper belonged to Athena’s great aunt.
We love how the guests’ place cards were displayed.
A gorgeous shot of the bride by our second shooter, Stefanie Harrington, just before Athena walked down the aisle.
Chris Popple served double duty, first assisting his wife, Melissa, with floral arrangements (from Candlelight Floral Designs) and second, as the officiant.
A huge and super fun wedding party!
Personalized lawn games after the ceremony…
The dances with Mom and Dad were touching, but then, Ray had a little surprise up his sleeve…
Unbeknownst to Athena, Ray and the groomsmen took some dancing lessons and learned a choreographed dance for her, which they debuted at the reception.
We were glad to have several angles covered for the dramatic cake-cutting!
Our Silly Station photo booth was busy all night, taking crazy pics of Athena, Ray, and all the guests.
Michael of Classy DJs kept the crowd on their toes all night.
