Back when they were in high school together in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Dan and Dave were good friends. They lived a few doors down from each other and spent lots of time with their little brothers, Matt and Eddie, just generally being boys. Fast forward about 20 years… Dan is living on the West Coast with the love of his life, Heidi. His old buddy, Dave is now owner of Spence Photographics. So Dan calls Dave and asks him to photograph his wedding in Charlottesville, Virginia, over Memorial Day weekend. How could we pass up such an opportunity to reconnect and capture a very special next chapter in Dan’s life?! The wedding celebration weekend started the night before the wedding at Heidi’s spectacular childhood home and surrounding gardens, with a welcome party…
Heidi’s parents’ home is amazing, with foliage growing all around it, and even inside it, through the floors. What a gorgeous location for a party!
After a night full of socializing, it was time to move on the next morning to Panorama Farms, just outside of the town of Charlottesville, for pre-wedding lawn games!
Big thanks to Margaret and her staff at Margaret Bloom Weddings for all the wonderful communication before and during the wedding weekend! Gorgeous job.
Dan and his brother, Eddie, were among the first to arrive to pick up some bean bags and play corn hole.
School buses transported guests from hotels to the farm!
During game time and cocktails Savros Calos and Christopher Leva provided wonderful music for the guests.
After the games, it was time to get dressed up for the ceremony!
Stunning floral arrangements by Twin Oaks Flowers.
According to “Southern Living” magazine, Southern folklore says that if you bury a bottle of bourbon at the site where a couple is to be married, it will not rain on their wedding day. It must have worked, because Heidi and Dan dutifully buried their bourbon one month prior to their wedding, and the weather could not have been more perfect. After the ceremony, it was time to dig it up and take a swig!
All the cool brides and grooms wear Ray Bans…
Between toasts, guests were treated to a superbly delicious dinner, thanks to the awesome Jaclyn Conlogue and staff from downtown Gordonville’s Barbeque Exchange. Yum!
Guests filled out messages on Jenga pieces for Dan and Heidi to enjoy every time they play… and went home with absolutely delicious rum cakes, Heidi’s mother’s specialty.
Then it was time to cut into the masterpiece from Albemarle Baking Company!
NorCal Pro Sound kept the party rocking with lots of great tunes.
Some friends crashed the photo-taking party… Selfie alert!
What a truly amazing weekend! Thank you, Dan and Heidi, for including us in your wedding weekend. We were truly honored to be there, and really happy to spend some time with you both!
The one thing left out here is what a delightful experience working with Dave and Molly was! The photos speak for themselves, but they were a dream to work with and it was fun to see Dave respond to spontaneous situations without missing a beat. He seemed to be everywhere, without ever being intrusive.
Now, excuse me while I go back to crying at the pictures……..MOB
