Karen and Will met onstage. First, as Karen performed in the musical “Gypsy,” Will admired her from above, working on the tech crew at the Old Opera House in Charles Town, West Virginia. Then, during a production of “City of Angels,” the two shared a microphone, and began sharing lots of time together as well. Years later, Will had bought a ring and was waiting for the right moment. It came in the form of a fortune cookie. Karen’s cookie proclaimed, “Hallelujah,” and Will took it as a sign. Later that night, after Karen’s performance in the musical “Cats,” Will got down on one knee. When it came time to say their vows, they figured what better place than where their love story began: the Old Opera House…
The Old Opera House is a charming little theatre with plush red seats and tons of fun details.
Friends and family were busy all day, making preparations for the “show,” and studying the “script.”
Karen and Will’s friend, Katie Kennedy, created most of the cakes. (And we can attest: they didn’t just look great.)
Susan Williamson made Karen’s colorful jewelry.
When it was time for the production to begin, the stars said their lines perfectly…
Karen and Will both promised to be each other’s favorite person.
“May my heart be your shelter and my arms be your home…”
And with their first kiss as husband and wife, the curtain rose!
After a first dance, it was time to get these two outside, in the beautiful June weather, to capture portraits around Charles Town.
A toast from the stage manager/wedding coordinator Amy Hebb.
And what would a reception be without our Silly Station photo booth?!
When you have access to a theatre’s costume department, you get a gaggle of “bridesmaids,” dressed in their finest.
After some dancing, some celebrating, and lots and lots of cake, these two were ready to call it a day. Congratulations, Karen and Will. Your wedding was truly a day to remember! Best wishes for many years of happiness…
These are fantastic! I cried all over again remembering the day! Love you guys!
