Alex and Steven met by chance when Alex was on a vacation with her college roommate’s family. It turns out Steven was friends with the roommate’s cousin, and though Alex had planned to leave earlier in the week, something kept her there, just in time to meet Steven. After years of dating, including one year during which they lived 6 hours apart, Alex says she knew a proposal was coming. But Steven was intent on surprising her. He succeeded, pulling out the ring when her back was turned, as they played an early morning round of golf. This past spring, we met up with Alex and Steven for a slightly rainy, but totally wonderful engagement session in and around Frederick.

In mid-October, it was time for their wedding day! They planning a classy and elegant morning ceremony, followed by drinks, brunch, and dancing, all at the Morrison House in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

Lori Nansi helped with hair and makeup for the ladies.
Did we mention that Alex and Steven both have a bit of an obsession with Oreos? Of course, they made an appearance while the ladies were getting ready.
The guys completed their dapper look with some really fun sock fashion.
Before long, it was time to get ready for the ceremony…
Before the walk down the aisle, we set up a “no-look first look.”
Alex’s dad and step-dad shared the honor of walking her down the aisle.
Steven was delighted to see his bride for the first time that day.
The Morrison House courtyard is a lovely location for a wedding ceremony.
They did it!
Petal’s Edge Floral Design provided the colorful blooms.
After post-ceremony portraits, we returned to the Morrison House for brunch at The Grille.
Dancing commenced, with tunes by DJ Mike Blaufield.
Oreos made a bit more elegant, plus a gorgeous cake by The Happy Tart bakery.
Guests gave the newlyweds a midday sendoff with mini champagne bottle bubbles!
Though the guests said goodbye, we didn’t! We spent more time with Alex and Steven, walking around Old Town for some fun portraits.
