I am David S. Spence, Chief Photographer and Founder of Spence Photographics, a Frederick, Maryland-based Wedding And Lifestyle Photojournalism studio. I use my many years of newspaper and magazine photojournalism experience to capture couples and subjects as they are, in their own environments. I strive to be "hands-off" in my approach to shooting. My direction to my subjects and couples is minimal so I can capture their true personalities in the images. I look to find natural, organic light to capture the moments as they are. With each wedding and lifestyle shoot comes new and exciting challenges, but also fun and unique personalities that drive my images. I love to see the interaction between two families coming together to form a new family and lasting friendships.
Christine and Josh met through mutual friends and after only a few months knew they had something special. Following a proposal in winter 2019 near the illuminated boats along Frederick’s Carroll Creek Park, they planned a fall 2020 wedding, but the pandemic had other plans! They postponed their wedding date, but we managed to sneak in an engagement session in 2020, in and around Gettysburg, Pa., including the historic Sachs Covered Bridge.
In Spring 2021, it was finally time for their wedding day, at the Lodges at Gettysburg.
Christine found her dress at osh Bridal in Frederick.
Msgr. John Dietzenbach, Christine’s childhood priest, officiated the ceremony.
We love when there’s more than one Spence photo couple at a wedding! We first met Christine when she was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Ashley and James in fall 2018.
