Dulany’s Overlook | Frederick, Maryland | Wedding | Abby & Chris

Abby and Chris met one New Year’s Eve in New York City. Each had traveled with mutual friends to Madison Square Garden to see Phish, and, a romance was born. Their engagement also involved their favorite band. Phish was doing a two-night run in Denver and Abby and Chris went on a hike at Red Rocks before the show. One of their favorite things to do is collect special rocks on their hikes, so Chris put the ring inside a geode before they left for the trip. On the hike, Chris said, “Oh, look, there’s a nice one!” Abby became pretty suspicious as she picked up a tennis ball-sized black rock among all the red rocks… Chris then said he noticed a crack and told Abby to try to crack it open. She tried, but it didn’t budge… At this point Abby definitely knew something was up. “I figured just a note was inside asking me to marry him, so I quickly threw the geode on a giant rock. It broke into 13 pieces (that we could find). Chris quickly found the ring and got down on one knee. I didn’t even give him time to finish asking before I said, ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’” Months later, we captured their love of hiking during an engagement session at Cunningham Falls State Park in Thurmont.

In late October, it was time for their wedding day, at Dulany’s Overlook in Frederick.

When Abby and Chris were engaged, as part of the proposal, Abby got a special letter from Liza, Chris’s daughter.

To go along with her white Birkenstocks, Abby found her wedding gown at Posh Bridal.

Abby’s dad’s reaction upon seeing her for the first time that day was pretty special.

Hair and makeup duties were by Brenda Dalton of Rose Brooke Studio.

Stunning florals from Wildflower Weddings at Bend in the River Farm.

Liza led her dad to his first look with his bride.

Liza and Chris are very musically talented, and helped the whole gathered crowd sing a special song during the ceremony, with Abby on backup, shaking a box of borrowed Altoids. They don’t call them the Bupptones for nothing!

Dancing tunes were provided by Shew-sical Entertainment Services.

When she heard they’d be serving barbecue (from the amazing P.I.G.S. BBQ Catering) this guest created special aprons, so the bride and groom’s best duds didn’t get saucy.

They also used the aprons when they created this unique piece of drip art together as a family.

Tastefully Ever After brought the cake.

The Phish-themed groom’s cake was brought by a friend.

Guests were asked to spread the love by hiding some of these Frederick Rocks around town.

We brought along our Silly Station photo booth for some extra fun at the reception!

And a glow-stick sendoff ended the night!

What an amazing day, spent with two of the most amazing people. Lots of love to you both, Abby and Chris, and best wishes for many happy years together!
