so, what exactly is silly station, you ask? it’s a photo booth (that’s really not a booth at all)! basically, it’s a backdrop with a camera, a flash, a remote, and crate full o’ wacky props you can use to snap your own photos.

there’s no curtain or strip of four photos that comes out the side. you’ll be able to see all the photos taken in silly station in an online photo gallery soon after your event! silly station is a great way to entertain your guests during parties or receptions — especially all those “too cool to get out on the dancefloor” uncle bobs out there!

i met up with this awesome duo recently in gettysburg, pennsylvania for a fun engagement session. we were blown around by the wind from a passing storm, but luckily the rain stayed away. we started out walking around the same areas of town that the couple recently walked on during a ghost tour. spooky! sorry folks, no ghosts to be seen this evening. only love from these two!

we then headed to the gettysburg national military park and the super cool spot called “devil’s den.” i can remember climbing all over these rocks as a kid, the many times my family camped around gettysburg and toured the battlefield. the only difference is they seem a tad smaller nowadays. it’s funny how your perception changes as you get older!

we had fun in the tall grass around the battlefield, all while tourists on segway personal transporters gawked at us from the road. too funny!

holly and steve are getting married next june at the ever popular musket ridge golf club in myersville, maryland. i can’t wait! you two were such a joy to work with, the big day is going to be awesome!

it’s not often that i show up the day of the wedding having never met the bride and groom. when i arrived for jackie and carter’s big day, it felt as if i was at home. i was welcomed by everyone and made to feel as part of the family. jackie and carter were fantastic! and their family was incredible. so much love!

their wedding was a destination gig for me, back to the philly area. i got to stay with my friends aaron and stacey, thanks for the hospitality!

good times — that is what i experienced shooting betsy and jim’s wedding in my hometown of doylestown, pa. despite a rainy morning and “heavy rain” forecasted for the evening, everyone was in high spirits for this amazing couple!

i met betsy and jim back in september and immediately knew they would be a fun couple to work with. they found me through my first doylestown wedding couple from earlier this year, kim and ryan. betsy and jim both work as teachers down here in maryland, so their wedding was a perfect way to kick off their summer vacation! and they got a surprise addition to my coverage! betsy’s sister megan hired them a videographer! what a cool present! ed and brandon from branded video were great to work with, thanks for the ride to the club, guys!

good luck guys, you were a blast to work with!

at the end of the night, we walked around to get a few parting shots. even in the mugginess, betsy and jim celebrated their great wedding day.

before booking eric and cara’s wedding, i had never booked a wedding completely over the phone. so i was a little nervous about meeting the fellow penn staters for the first time on the day before their wedding. yikes! but, no worries! eric and cara and their family and friends were all incredibly cool and fun to work with and super gracious!

my wife, molly, and son, jackson, traveled with me to this wedding, since it was in good old happy valley. (we are … penn state!) molly and i met as students at penn state, so it was nice to get back to our roots. we enjoyed some creamery ice cream (peachy paterno rocks!), visited beaver stadium (jackson asked where the “football men” were) and stayed in quaint, little bellefonte. the weather could not have been nicer for a penn state wedding weekend.

i started out with the ladies at cara’s parents’ house and had fun dodging their overly friendly family dog. (i got lots of licks …  guess i was just the right flavor!)

this cloth belonged to cara’s grandmother and served as her “something old.” perfect for a detail shot of the rings!

i loved shooting in all the nice, diffused window light at cara’s parents’ house!

after the ceremony, the entire wedding party rode to the penn state hintz family alumni center for some pics on the lovely lawn.

the cake was gone before i could get some, but it looked mighty tasty! the staff at the atherton hotel did a great job of making sure i was fed right, so no complaints!

the groomsmen clued me into this little gem they pulled on eric: a ball and chain that he had to beg cara to take off. it was totally real, with a real lock! during the stunt, dj jeff tranell of nittany entertainment played social distortion’s “ball and chain.” how appropriate!

i stole the lovebirds away for one last session in the lights of downtown state college near the end of the night. thanks for an awesome time, cara and eric!

last weekend i traveled to doylestown, pennsylvania (my hometown) for the wedding of kim and ryan. they both went to my high school (though I didn’t know them then). and the church they were married in is just around the corner from my parents’ house! i shot their engagement session a few months ago in d.c., and have been really looking forward to their big day.

on my way into doylestown, i ran into one of my mom’s best friends and then met up with a few other good friends of my parents at the actual wedding! it was surreal! the day could not have been better — well, maybe a bit warmer!

below are a few of my favorite shots from the day. i had a difficult time narrowing it down — originally i had 30 faves — but that would have made for a super-long post! what can i say, with such a fun couple and a great group of family and friends, there was lots to photograph! congratulations to ryan and kim, and thanks for including me in your special day.
