to prime us for the main event, we spent an absolutely beautiful recent evening walking through the alleys and streets of downtown frederick. so many fun spots! more and more, i love my little city and its unique look. as we walked around, steve got more and more comfortable with our shoot. thanks, buddy! you did great!

springtime in baker park rocks!

weeping willows are so cool, i love the way the branches hang and flow with the breeze.

what an awesome, fun time i had on their big day! hannah and kaleb, you two are so much fun and i hope you keep up the good times from your wedding day!

i loved all the flowers! such a perfect bouquet for an awesome spring day. and the cake, made by hannah’s dad, allan, is cookies and cream. yum!

the church, st. john’s lutheran church, in myersville, is such cool old chapel. i loved the intimate, small setting.

kaleb’s grandfather drove the couple from the chapel to the reception, and to downtown frederick in-between for pictures in his seafoam 1950s chevy. so cool!

we walked around in downtown frederick for some pictures, braving the crazy winds of the day, so we had to keep to the alleys and doorways!

the reception, at dutch’s daughter, was super fun! lots of good music by dj matt shew of shew-sical entertainment and great dancing by everyone in attendance!

i had never met katie or jim before their wedding day, but as par for the course, i was made to feel right at home. katie’s mom, sandra, was incredible in making sure i had everything i needed the whole day. thanks, sandy!

the day started with an exploration of the grounds of antrim 1844 in taneytown, maryland. what a place! i had done a food shoot at the inn a few years ago, while i was still working for the paper, and knew the place was cool, but i really had no idea! this place is awesome! lots and lots of gardens, a huge main house with loads of charm in every room, scenery out the wazoo and a killer reception hall!

so it was fitting that we started their pictures at the c. burr artz library in downtown frederick. stacks and stacks of books all to ourselves. not having to worry about being quiet, not that we did make lots of noise anyway!

they were married at the delaplaine visual arts center, a super place for a low-key wedding! just a few family and friends attended, but the love was everywhere, despite the weather not being so nice (more rain!).

i first met amy and patrick at a coffee shop here in town, right away i knew there wedding was gonna be fun! they both are laid back and easygoing, which made for a fun time with pictures! thanks guys, for running around to all the cool spots to do pics! i had a list a mile long of spots to shoot at stoney creek farm in boonsboro.

the day started off a bit overcast and slightly rainy, but ended up being just amazing for light! the rain let up and gave the afternoon and evening a nice cool fall feel. perfect weather for folks to play lawn games and listen to the sweet sounds of the naked mountain boys, a bluegrass band out of bluemont, virginia. they were awesome!

i started the day in sleepy poolesville, maryland, at holly’s parents’ house and took a few quick trips across the street, literally, to shoot the boys at the couple’s townhouse. the ladies had loads of fun getting ready. each bridesmaid and mom took turns steaming all the dresses that arrived wrinkled (good work, ladies!) then holly and her sister, christine, feasted on donuts while getting their hair done. tim and the guys hung out and watched sports inside, as the day turned out to be a real scorcher – something like 90 degrees in the shade!

after a few hours of “getting ready” shots, we all headed north to another sleepy maryland town, myersville, for the ceremony and reception. i stopped by musket ridge golf club to get detail shots of the room before all the guests arrived. it was really nice to be able to take my time and concentrate on making nice images of all the little details holly and tim had planned and worked on for months! then on to mt. zion united methodist church for a great ceremony, followed by a trip back to the golf club for family pics and the party!

thank you, holly and tim! it was a real treat to be a witness to your special day. you two are amazing and i wish you the best!

at sunset we ran out onto the golf course for some portraits and a breath of fresh air. the breezes out there felt awesome after a hot day of shooting!

lauren and madhu were married at st john catholic church, in downtown frederick, on an incredibly beautiful day! after a short ceremony honoring madhu’s hindu heritage, all the guests took a stroll through downtown to the delaplaine visual arts center for the reception. wow! what a place!

congrats, lauren and madhu! you were a pleasure to work with, thank you for allowing me to document your day – i had a blast!!

so…enough about how i enjoyed myself, on to the show!!

i loved all the attention to details – pun intended!

lauren made the flowers for her bouquet out of paper while watching many, many episodes of “house.” en masse flowers did an amazing job of assembling them into a bouquet!

lauren wore pearls of that her mother has owned since she was a girl.

lauren’s sister, megan, adjusts her veil and some really nifty little cloth flower clips for her hair.

lauren wore a simple, yet classy dress for the church ceremony and pictures, then she changed into an amazing sari for the reception.

this little guy, sean, is lauren’s nephew, and he did not like me taking his picture. the face says it all!

madhu looked pretty snazzy in his suit! he also changed for the reception, into a super cool jodhpuri, an indian suit.

when i first met with lauren and madhu, she had a whole folder of really cool inspiration shots on her computer, this is our version of one of them. love it!!

before the ceremony, friends and family escorted madhu through the streets of frederick in a wedding processional called a baraat.

on our way to the reception, lauren was kind enough to help some folks with directions…to her own reception! i guess she would be a good person to ask!

the older ladies helped lauren get her sari just right. amazing!

we finished off the evening with a little stroll along frederick’s carroll creek.
