after lots of shots with the kick-ass corvette, we headed to federal hill park to capture some fun with the couple’s daughter, giselle.

federal hill holds special meaning to jenn and nathan… it is where they got engaged, just a few park benches from this one! the “real” bench was occupied by a surly character when we were shooting.

no engagement session is complete without a nice swing ride from mom and dad!

i met up with this awesome duo recently in gettysburg, pennsylvania for a fun engagement session. we were blown around by the wind from a passing storm, but luckily the rain stayed away. we started out walking around the same areas of town that the couple recently walked on during a ghost tour. spooky! sorry folks, no ghosts to be seen this evening. only love from these two!

gettysburg has some really cool old homes! i love the colors on this one!

holly was trying so hard to keep a straight face! she is just so smiley all the time. love that!

we then headed to the gettysburg national military park and the super cool spot called “devil’s den.” i can remember climbing all over these rocks as a kid, the many times my family camped around gettysburg and toured the battlefield. the only difference is they seem a tad smaller nowadays. it’s funny how your perception changes as you get older!

we had fun in the tall grass around the battlefield, all while tourists on segway personal transporters gawked at us from the road. too funny!

holly and steve are getting married next june at the ever popular musket ridge golf club in myersville, maryland. i can’t wait! you two were such a joy to work with, the big day is going to be awesome!

to prime us for the main event, we spent an absolutely beautiful recent evening walking through the alleys and streets of downtown frederick. so many fun spots! more and more, i love my little city and its unique look. as we walked around, steve got more and more comfortable with our shoot. thanks, buddy! you did great!

springtime in baker park rocks!

weeping willows are so cool, i love the way the branches hang and flow with the breeze.

laurie and chris fit the bill! they are both extremely sweet and have an awesome relationship. having grown up in the area, they both love the old town and were excited to shoot there.

laurie and chris are getting married in october at baltimore’s gramercy mansion. it’s gonna be an amazing time! you two rock!

we started off in the batskellar at the ellicott mills brewing company, at the exact spot where they first met. love it!

then we hit the town! what a perfect day for walking.

the tourists and shoppers were out in force on sunday, but no worries! i like having folks walk through my frame, it sometimes helps define the shot.

after a quick outfit change, we headed for the trails on the other side of the patapsco river.

this is so them … rocking out on the rocks as i moved along the bank to a new shooting position!

i did a little squeal after seeing this image on the back of the camera and laurie thought something awful had happened to my gear. nope, just really excited for the awesome images i got of you two!

so old school, but i like it. nice framing and they are both being themselves. lovely.

the first thing they wanted to do was jump, so we jumped!

the back of the lincoln memorial is a perfect location to stay away from the crowds and enjoy some architecture…er, loving.

my fave shot of the day! perfect light, location, couple, and moment! i also think this shot captures their personalities in a nutshell.

holly and tim were so fun! they totally just went for it and sometimes forgot i was there. they lost themselves in the moments, which was great for pictures! we started by walking around the lower campground area and had fun on the swings, near a little creek (sorry about your feet, holly!) and took some time to relax near a small pond. afterward, we headed to the top of the park for some scenic sunset shots. the overlook i had scoped out a few weeks ago was occupied, though! we just kept getting closer and closer to the other couple as we shot, and eventually booted them out! sorry guys, whoever you are! we needed that spot! ha!

i had a blast with both holly and tim and am really looking forward to their wedding. they are the first among their friends and families to get married, so it should be fun!

chris seems so serious, but sam was able to get him to loosen up!

we had planned to meet around the navy memorial on pennsylvania ave, but to my amazement, when i got there the entire block was covered in sailors in their dress whites! a stage and bleachers were all setup and it was very crowded. so we started our shoot instead near a favorite restaurant, teaism. we shot on the grand avenues and used the capitol building as our backdrop. a quick cab ride took us to union station for some fun pics, and a chance encounter with one of ryan’s buddies!

ryan and kim’s wedding is coming up in march, in bucks county, pa. it is going to be a blast!
